ESSA is not a yacht club, but a group of sailors of all ages who are passionate about the sport and related activities whether racing, cruising, or day sailing. Our two fleets, the Choptank Fleet in Cambridge, MD, and the Tangier Fleet in Tyaskin, MD, sponsor weeknight buoy racing during the summer, special event racing over longer courses, day sails and picnics, and organized cruises to destinations around the Bay and beyond. Tangier Fleet – series 2 is underway. The 1st series only included 2 races so it will not be scored.
Choptank Fleet – series one just concluded and series 2 will kick off this upcoming week.

ESSA is comprised of individuals who are passionate about sailing and love having fun on the water.
We host weeknight around-the-buoy races over the summer, special event races, and day sails at our Maryland locations in Cambridge on the Choptank River and in Bivalve on the Nanticoke River. In addition, we hold social events such as picnics and dinners for racing awards, and the annual Change of Watch to install new leaders for the association and each fleet.
